Manual Mills for Wheat Flour – Stating the Many Advantages of Having One

A lot of people had been grinding their own wheat flour for their bread and other baking stuff. Though there are times that it is more advantageous to use electric mill for your grinding practices, there are also certain advantages that a user should never neglect when it comes to manual mills.

There are actually a whole lot of advantages in using manual mills for grinding your wheat flour. The first advantage is the very obvious one. If there would be no electricity to power up your electric grain mills, then having the manual one is the best option to choose. Because it is manual, whether there is electricity or not, one could still use this grain mill. Thus, if you are in an area where electricity is unreliable, then having a manual mill is recommended. Furthermore, when it comes to durability, this kind of mill is obviously more durable. They are made of sturdy materials and some of them were even made of grinding stones. Thus, if you wanted a mill that will last for longer periods of time, you could buy this kind of mill instead. This means that no matter how often you used this, you could guarantee its parts will not easily break.

However, the most important thing that one should consider in having manual mills is the quality of the flour grinded. Wheat grains grinded in electric mills do not have the same nutrients and are not tasty enough compared to the wheat flour grounded in a manual mill. The major reason for such phenomena is the difference of the generated temperature in an electric mill compared to the manual one. In an electric grain mill, the grinding process can generate more than 180 degrees of heat. This is because the grinding process is done in an impact chamber. Thus, all of the grains were crushed at the same time, generating excess heat. This heat could then dissolve some important nutrients. On the other hand, manual mills slowly grind the wheat grains away. Thus, it generates less heat and more nutrient retention. This is the main reason why a lot of health junkie prefers using manual mills rather than those electric grain mills. It ensures the retention of all the nutrients wheat has to offer, thereby, making it more preferable in eating than those ready-made flours with their preservatives.
